Pillow talk at the Thebado household

Camryn: Mom, I love your eyeballs.
Me: Thanks, Camryn.
Camryn: Now, where are your ribs?
Me: Here.
Camryn: Oh, they're just like the ones you eat! (laughs)
Me: Goodnight, Camryn.
Camryn: Mom?
Me: Yes?
Camryn: My feet are growing right now.
Me: Yup, you'll grow even more while you're sleeping.
Camryn: And when I get bigger, I'm going to give you and Daddy shoulder rides.

I love our little talks every night.

On a different note, I'm getting really impatient for spring to get here! I miss being able to hop on the T with Camryn and take the bus to Harvard Square or Boston. I know, I know. I can do that in the winter, too. I'm so resistant to taking the T in the winter though. I hate wearing my bulky winter jacket and then squeezing onto the bus, the swaying, the other people in their bulky winter coats... I get car sick! It's that same feeling you get when you've been walking around the mall too long, breathing in the stale air. My sister and I used to call it, "mallaria."

I'm being such a whiner right now.

Anyways, there are some good reasons to enjoy winter: adorable winter hats, chunky sweaters and my new favorite funky jacket. Well, Camryn's new funky jacket, which you'll probably end up seeing more of since I bought her some cat ears at babyGap the other day to go with it. Meow!

Where did fall go?

Okay, lately it seems like I'm blogging maybe once per season. I'm such a bad blogger. Seriously though, what happened to fall? We just got hit with our third(?) snowstorm of the season and there's a Nor'easter heading our way tomorrow! Camryn and I made "Frosty the Snowman" last week and there is so much new snow here he's been completely buried! All I can see is the top of his Boston Red Sox hat. Sorry, Ernie.

Anyways, here are a few glimpses at what I've been busy with.

(Okay, it's been so long I'm forgetting how to add pictures to my blog... sheesh!)

Got it. Here you go:

A sneak peek...

I love the light in the fall. So yummy. Do you recognize these two? Wink, wink, nudge, nudge... look in my header. The last time I saw this little guy, I don't even think he was rolling over. Now look at him, conquering stairs! Okay, maybe he had a little help. :)

Are you ready for a picture overload?

Okay, maybe not an overload... yet. I'm finally getting around to proofing the pictures from our trip up to Maine. DH comes from a big family, so instead of buying Christmas presents for the adults, we chip in for a house up in Maine each year. I love this house. It's right on the water, full of character and broken in the way a beach house should be. And it's got amazing natural light. We did have a few chilly days, so I bribed my nieces and nephews into going along with me for some pictures. I promise I'll have a few more that aren't in front of this door, but I just love the color so much.

Oh... and Renee tagged me for 8 interesting things about myself. I don't know if these are interesting. Weird, yes. Interesting? Not too sure.

1. I love avocado egg rolls from the Cheesecake Factory.

2. I’ve seen the musical “Rent” five times. Or six. Basically, every time it comes to Boston. The first time I saw it was the summer after I graduated from college. I moved back into the old room I shared with my then seventeen year old sister and we would sing along to the cd together all the time! I still know all the words to “La Vie Boheme.”

3. I'm 4'11 and 3/4. On one of my first dates with my DH, we went to the zoo. When we approached the ticket desk, the lady looked at us and said, "One child, one adult?" And of course, DH said yes.

4. I completely stink at sports. I am so clumsy it's not even funny.

5. I worked at a paint your own pottery place at night while I was in grad school. It was really fun.

6. When I was in third grade, the tv station that used to air repeats of The Monkees removed them from their programming because of a change in season. Being raised in a politically active family, I got out my clipboard, grabbed my best friend and set about collecting petitions to send to the station demanding that The Monkees be returned to their proper 5 pm slot on the air.

7. I can remember the exact moment I first fell in love with photography for real-- it was spring break in college and we were in LaJolla, CA. It was one of my first trips without my parents. I had gone out by myself and was walking along the cliffs and took a picture of these gorgeous pink flowers. Purely by accident back then, flowers were in focus while the background was this perfect blur, just the right depth of field. For me, that was what I really saw-- the picture didn’t just record the details, but what I felt about what I was seeing.

8. Even though I'm proofing pictures from Maine, we actually just got back from a night up in the White Mountains. We haven't traveled much since Camryn was born, and now I'm really craving more trips. I really miss traveling!

Whew! Now I'm off to tag 8 people-- wherever they may be. Muahahaha.

Hey sugar, sugar...

More to come. :)

I'm so lucky.

I love meeting the families of these little cuties I photograph. This little girl's parents are always such a blast to work with. You may remember them from back in March when I first photographed them. Anyways, they are so great at just going with the flow and had me cracking up during the whole shoot. No wonder she's such a happy girl!

Had to put this one in black and white

A whole lotta cute

Can you believe this little guy is the first baby boy I've been able to photograph who has HAIR! Isn't he gorgeous?

And speaking of hair, he absolutely loved playing with his mom's hair. It totally brought me back to when Camryn was that age. Actually, she still twirls it when she gets sleepy. Sigh. :)

Yes, I got the Pier One blanket, too. Don't shoot me, but I love the colors. And I figure, if I don't end up using it as a prop, it will look very nice sitting on the couch in my living room.

Yes, I do try to rationalize all of my photography purchases. Yes, I do go shopping for my daughter's clothes with photos in mind. It's a sickness, really. I even had photos in mind when I bought the bright blue rocks for the fish bowl we bought a few weeks ago. Of course, that's another problem, because I can't seem to keep a fish alive.

We have gone through FOUR goldfish in the past month, all named Wally. Every time one dies, we tell Camryn we had to take him to the doctor, a.k.a PETCO, and will go pick him up tomorrow. Then we go back to PETCO and pick a new one up. I feed them, I promise. I change the water. I treat the water. She and I talk to them and sing "Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star," when we feed them(her idea, not mine). I don't get it. Maybe it's my singing.

Anywho, I got tagged by Stephanie to list my 5 favorite things, so here they are, in no particular order.

1. Spending time with my family and friends.
2. Going to the bookstore with Camryn. I know I'm supposed to teach her to love the library, but our library is small and the books for toddlers have crusty boogies in them. More information than you need to know.
3. Laughing with my students. Sixth grade is hilarious.
4. Moments of quiet... peppermint tea with honey
5. Ah yes, photography. I love my camera so much, I almost included it under family and friends.

Okay, and now I'm tagging Marla, Jen, JulieB, Julie M and Renee!
