A whole lotta cute

Can you believe this little guy is the first baby boy I've been able to photograph who has HAIR! Isn't he gorgeous?

And speaking of hair, he absolutely loved playing with his mom's hair. It totally brought me back to when Camryn was that age. Actually, she still twirls it when she gets sleepy. Sigh. :)

Yes, I got the Pier One blanket, too. Don't shoot me, but I love the colors. And I figure, if I don't end up using it as a prop, it will look very nice sitting on the couch in my living room.

Yes, I do try to rationalize all of my photography purchases. Yes, I do go shopping for my daughter's clothes with photos in mind. It's a sickness, really. I even had photos in mind when I bought the bright blue rocks for the fish bowl we bought a few weeks ago. Of course, that's another problem, because I can't seem to keep a fish alive.

We have gone through FOUR goldfish in the past month, all named Wally. Every time one dies, we tell Camryn we had to take him to the doctor, a.k.a PETCO, and will go pick him up tomorrow. Then we go back to PETCO and pick a new one up. I feed them, I promise. I change the water. I treat the water. She and I talk to them and sing "Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star," when we feed them(her idea, not mine). I don't get it. Maybe it's my singing.

Anywho, I got tagged by Stephanie to list my 5 favorite things, so here they are, in no particular order.

1. Spending time with my family and friends.
2. Going to the bookstore with Camryn. I know I'm supposed to teach her to love the library, but our library is small and the books for toddlers have crusty boogies in them. More information than you need to know.
3. Laughing with my students. Sixth grade is hilarious.
4. Moments of quiet... peppermint tea with honey
5. Ah yes, photography. I love my camera so much, I almost included it under family and friends.

Okay, and now I'm tagging Marla, Jen, JulieB, Julie M and Renee!

Just who does she think she is?

Do you remember that song by Cory Hart, "I Wear My Sunglasses At Night"?
That's my girl. She wore them last night when we were running errands. She wore them in Starbucks the other day when we were out for our little weekly excursion to get chocolate milk(her) and an iced green tea latte(me). She asks to wear them to bed. I think she thinks she rocks in these.

Wish I looked this good at eight months!!

Isn't she beautiful? She has the pregnancy glow. Me, on the other hand, I had feet that would put Fred Flintstone to shame and a co-worker who lovingly referred to me as the resident weebull. You know, as in "Weebulls wobble, but they don't fall down."

Can someone run "weebull" through spell check for me?

Anyways, this was such a beautiful family to photograph. And look at little Miss H.'s curls!

Well, I'm a little behind on blogging, but I wanted to share a some munchkins I've had the pleasure of photographing over the past couple of weeks. This little cutie's mom contacted me and mentioned she was into photography, too. Little did I know she's been doing this professionally her whole life. Gulp. Nervous? Yeah. Then I started looking at the photographs on her wall. She does environmental photography that is absolutely amazing. Nervous again? Yup! But seriously, she was so down to earth and relaxed and I had a great time shooting there.

If you saw where I was standing when I took this shot

You'd be laughing too! I love my 50mm, but once in a while it feels like I just can't back up as much as I'd like to. Anyways, I was standing in their closet, in between some shirts on hangers! It must have been a pretty funny sight. I'd love to know what this adorable little girl was thinking as I was standing in her parents' closet singing my oh-so-lovely renditions of Music Together classic hits, such as "Biddy Biddy" and "Deedle Deedle Dumpling," and making all sorts of crazy sounds.

Clap, clap, clap your hands...

Clap your hands together...[imagine me singing this... or better yet, don't.]

This little cutie is my best friend's daughter. I've been taking my daughter to Music Together classes since she was five months old and now that my best friend has a little girl, we've all been going together... to Music Together...
Anyways, she LOVES music and anytime we wanted to get a smile out of her, all we had to do was sing this song from class. And I bet you can't tell what her favorite thing to do is when she hears the song!

Happy St. Paddy's Day...

From my little punk! She's been hanging out with the kids at her daddy's work a lot lately, at the Boys and Girls Club. It seems they've taught her a few things, huh? Seriously, she loves going there to visit. She's going to be chewing gum and playing bumpa pool before I know it.

For those of you that don't know, bumpa pool is a smaller form of billiards, and with bumpers. Highly recommended.

I'm hoping to take some pictures of kids in action at the Club soon. My husband and I both met working there and it is such a great place. For so many kids, it's like a second home, and the relationships they form with the adults there are so important. I still stay in touch with some of the girls I used to work with, back when I led a mentoring group for middle schoolers there. So much of what I'm proud of as a person has been from what I experienced with these young women. Most of them are graduating from college this year, and one is even getting married. I relish in each of their accomplishments; it just makes me feel so happy to see them make their dreams come true. I'm not taking any credit for it, I'm just saying I'm glad to have been along for part of that ride. If you've ever thought of mentoring, it's something that will change your life. So, bumpa pool and mentoring. Try'em sometime. That's my schpeel for the night. :)

Just one more...

Little Boys in Hats: Part II

Aww... I'm loving these little guys in hats. This baby was such a talker! I had a nice time talking to his mom, too. One thing I really like about shooting on location is that I get to see how people decorate their homes... I love color of their walls in #2! Anyways, they had the most amazing photo in their dining room, so I had to ask about it. The photographer is Yann Arthus-Bertrand and he shoots these gorgeous aerial photographs. Check it out here.
And then check out these cheeks!
